Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. She is the co-founder of Feminist Frequency a website that offers videos and blog posts that analyze gender representations in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, journalist and award-winning feminist for more than a decade. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which explores the representations of females in the popular media narratives. In her efforts to dispel the myths about women and popular culture, she also tries in highlighting issues relating specifically to the harassment of women and other marginalized classes of people in the online world. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in the field of political and social thought at York University. As a public speaker, she's highly sought after and has spoken at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her site Feminist Frequency in 2009 when she was still a student at the university. Her website was in the process of launching a collection of web videos examining the gender representations in video games at the time she came under the sway of cyber-bullying.
